“All of my kids have been coached by Sam Walters since they started wrestling from a young age. Sam is a great coach and even better person who truly cares about his athletes. Broad Axe is a place not only to become a great wrestler but it is also a place that puts and emphasis on developing athletes into people of good character. I always felt that I was leaving my kids in good hands with Sam and Melissa Walters and you will too.”

“My son has been going to Broad Axe for the past year. He started with no experience or knowledge of wrestling. Coach Sam has been an amazing instructor. You can tell he truly cares about every kid there. He once stayed after practice for 15 minutes to give my son a pep talk after he had a rough day.”

“Broad Axe Wrestling Academy is truly a second home for my son. Sam Walters and the rest of the staff are outstanding, not only as wrestling coaches, but also as mentors and positive role models for life off the mat. If you are looking for a community where your sons or daughters will build healthy habits, develop self-discipline, strengthen their bodies, sharpen their minds, develop friendships through a common struggle and purpose, and learn life skills through the sport of wrestling, I highly recommend Broad Axe.”

Coach Sam and his entire staff genuinely care about each athlete — not just their success on the mat, but who they are as individuals. They push the kids to work hard, stay disciplined, and believe in themselves, while always creating a positive and supportive environment. What really sets Broad Axe apart is the strong sense of community; it feels like being part of something bigger than just a wrestling club. We are so grateful.”

“We absolutely love this wrestling academy. It's a truly family-oriented studio where the quality of instruction is just outstanding. The skills our kids have gained here are honestly incomparable to any other place in the area. But beyond just the wrestling techniques, what really sets it apart is the focus on attitude, discipline, and character building. It's so much more than just a place to learn how to wrestle—it's a place that helps shape great kids and strong values. We couldn't recommend it more highly!”

Building Strong Wrestlers—and Even Stronger People

Every practice is an opportunity to develop discipline. Every difficult opponent builds courage. Every setback teaches humility, and every victory inspires gratitude.

From national champions to first-year wrestlers, elementary students to high school seniors, boys and girls train side by side. Everyone learns together, supports one another, and plays a part in helping the entire team grow.

CHOOSE TO FIGHT

Getting on the mat isn’t easy. Neither is life when it gets heavy. We wrestle to the whistle and hunt the last takedown. Choosing to fight is a habit. The earlier a kid learns it here, the more they have when it counts off the mat.

TRAIN TO WIN

Trust your coaches. Trust your partners. Learn to love the process. A hard-fought loss often teaches more than an easy pin. Not every kid will be a state or national champ. Every kid can be coachable, and a little better tomorrow.

LIVE WITH PURPOSE

Wrestling is a small part of who these kids will become. Losses happen. Heartbreak is common. Neither one is the whole story. If they’re listening, staying in the fight, and getting better — that’s the ask. We want winners. More than that, we want people who leave the world better than they found it.

The room

A Facility Built for Training, Recovery, and Growth

Our Dublin facility features approximately 2,700 square feet of Dollamur mats installed on a raised, sprung floor, giving athletes a little more protection while they train hard.

Beyond the mats, athletes have access to Rogue pull-up bars, climbing ropes, strength-training equipment, Rogue Echo Bikes, and a sauna for recovery.

We also have a dedicated study hall with built-in desks, tables, chairs, and a comfortable lounge area—giving athletes a place to complete schoolwork, relax, and connect with teammates before or after practice.
