Learn with Purpose. Train with Purpose. Grow with Purpose.
The Broad Axe Homeschool Wrestling Program gives homeschool athletes the opportunity to organize part of their week around focused schoolwork, purposeful training, consistent partners, and the positive culture of Broad Axe Wrestling Academy.
This is not a school or curriculum provider. It is a structured environment where homeschool athletes can complete parent-directed schoolwork, train at a high level, develop greater independence, and pursue excellence alongside teammates with similar goals.
Our purpose goes beyond creating better wrestlers. We want to help develop disciplined, accountable, confident, and coachable young people who know how to manage their responsibilities, use their time well, support others, and work toward meaningful goals.
We use wrestling as a training ground for life.
Enrollment in the 2026-27 Broad Axe Homeschool Wrestling Program is currently full.
The roster was intentionally limited and built around compatible ages, sizes, experience levels, goals, and training partners. Maintaining that balance helps us provide every athlete with a consistent and productive training environment.
We may occasionally offer limited drop-in opportunities during the year when space and training-partner availability allow.
To ask about availability, future openings, or possible drop-in dates, email Melissa at:
Drop-in participation is not guaranteed and will be approved individually based on space, athlete experience, training-group needs, and suitable partner availability.
The program meets every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Wrestling, strength and conditioning, and athletic development
Across three training days, athletes receive up to seven and a half additional hours of dedicated daytime training each week.
That gives our coaches and athletes more time to teach, drill, wrestle, build strength, improve athleticism, and work consistently with quality training partners.
Study hall gives athletes a consistent block of time to complete their homeschool assignments before training.
Broad Axe typically provides two to three supervisors who help create a productive environment, keep students focused, provide reasonable academic assistance when possible, and communicate with families when needed.
Study hall offers:
Study hall is optional. Athletes who complete their academic work at home may arrive in time for the 11:30 a.m. training session.
The Broad Axe Homeschool Wrestling Program is designed to support homeschooling—not replace the role of a parent, guardian, curriculum provider, co-op, tutor, or school.
Each family remains responsible for:
Parents are encouraged to send a clear daily assignment card or message so study hall supervisors know what the athlete should complete.
The partnership is simple:
Parents direct the education.
Students take ownership of their work.
Broad Axe provides support and accountability while they are here.
Not every athlete learns the same way, and not every assignment requires the same environment.
Our dedicated study hall room includes built-in desks, tables, chairs, and a comfortable lounge area. It serves as a quieter space for reading, writing, independent coursework, tests, and assignments requiring greater concentration.
When available, the wrestling room may also be used as a collaborative study area for work that allows more movement, discussion, or group interaction.
Students completing online lessons or audio-based coursework should bring headphones or earbuds, along with any laptops, tablets, chargers, books, notebooks, or other materials required for the day.
At 11:30 a.m., the program transitions from academics to training.
Each session may include:
Training changes throughout the year based on competition schedules, athlete needs, development goals, and coaching objectives.
This is not simply extra mat time. It is a purposeful developmental program built around consistent training, quality partners, and the time required to make meaningful progress.
One of the program’s greatest advantages is consistency.
The homeschool roster is intentionally built around athlete age, size, experience, ability, goals, and available training partners. Regular attendance matters because an absence can affect another athlete’s ability to train effectively that day.
We understand that families will occasionally miss because of illness, travel, appointments, co-ops, competitions, or other commitments. Perfect attendance is not expected, but communication and commitment are.
The homeschool program creates additional daytime training opportunities without requiring wrestling to take over every available evening.
Homeschool athletes also receive access to their appropriate regular Broad Axe evening practices. Those practices keep athletes connected to the larger Broad Axe room and expose them to additional coaches and training partners.
Families should generally try to attend a couple of appropriate evening practices when their schedules allow. At the same time, moving quality training into the daytime can give families some evenings back for schoolwork, dinner together, church, other sports, recovery, or time at home.
The goal is to create more time for development while protecting time for the other things that matter.
The Broad Axe Standard applies throughout the entire homeschool day—not just when practice begins.
Athletes are expected to demonstrate:
Respect
Treat coaches, supervisors, teammates, other students, and the facility well.
Effort
Work hard, whether completing an assignment or finishing the final wrestling round.
Accountability
Take ownership of your preparation, schoolwork, behavior, and mistakes.
Coachability
Listen, learn, accept correction, and make adjustments.
Gratitude
Recognize and appreciate the opportunity to learn and train.
Service
Look for opportunities to help the people around you.
Integrity
Do the right thing, even when nobody is watching.
These values are not separate from the program. They are at the heart of the program.
Success in the Broad Axe Homeschool Wrestling Program is not measured only by tournament results.
We want our athletes to become:
Winning important wrestling matches is exciting, but Broad Axe has always been about something bigger.
One day the wrestling shoes come off. What remains is the person we helped build.
Students should arrive prepared for both academics and training.
